- Ophitoxaemia: Polyherbal formulation as an emergency drug - loading dose.
Public outreach & key achievements
We have developed a novel polyherbal formulation intended as an emergency intervention for ophitoxaemia (snakebite envenomation). This formulation is currently undergoing evaluation for technology transfer and clinical testing. Our research addresses a critical health concern in the Western Ghats region of South India, where snakebite-related fatalities are a recurring issue, particularly in remote villages and estate areas with limited access to timely medical care. By providing a potentially life-saving solution that can be administered at the point of incident as a loading dose, our work holds significant promise for reducing mortality and improving public health outcomes in underserved communities.
