Queen’s offers free postgraduate courses to help local workforce upskill and reskill
Queen’s is once again offering upskilling and reskilling opportunities through SKILL UP- a transformative initiative that delivers free training opportunities to help people across NI reskill, upskill, and thrive in a rapidly changing job market.

Funded by the Department for the Economy, SKILL UP delivers training places in over 250 subject areas, in partnership with local further and higher education institutions.
Courses at Queen’s are currently open for enrolment, and so now is the perfect time for anyone thinking about changing careers or sharpening their current skillset, to avail of this opportunity. SKILL UP offers free Postgraduate and short courses in the following areas:
- Green Skills
- Software
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Health and Social Care
- Transversal Skills
Speaking about the programme’s impact, Professor Judy Williams, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students at Queen’s, said:
"Queen’s University Belfast is delighted to roll out the SKILL UP programme for the fifth consecutive year. This initiative is designed to support skills development for individuals who may not otherwise have access to such opportunities.
“Over 700 students enrolled in the programme at Queen’s last year, and we are already seeing the positive impact of their new capabilities in the workforce. SKILL UP exemplifies our commitment to widening participation, supporting lifelong learning, and building a future-ready, inclusive economy for Northern Ireland."
All applicants must have right to work and train in the UK for the duration of their course, and be aged 18 or older at point of enrolment.
